Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Partners in Personalisation was established by 2 mums who each had a young person with additional support needs. We met when North Ayrshire Council invited us to be part of a pilot scheme for Self-directed Support (SDS). As part of a group of 10 families with children with disabilities we were tasked with testing the processes the council were developing around SDS. As a group we met up regularly and had many lively discussions about our own experiences with processes. Whilst the principles of SDS were fabulous with choice and control at the centre of everything, the practical implications of where to go for impartial information was lacking. As parents we were starting to feel the benefits of choosing the right support for our individual needs but we also realised many could be put off without the right support.
