Home Care Worker - Job Ref PIP-JG
Hours: 20hrs per week
Pay: £10.02 p/h
The successful candidate will be required to work closely with a lady in a wheelchair. They will also be required to use their discretion and initiative to manage their workload on a daily basis, taking into account the day-to-day issues arising from direct client contact. The successful candidate will need to work together with the client to find ways of enabling her independence in everyday life.
The job would include personal care, domestic cleaning, cooking, meal preparation, light housework (such as washing, ironing, sorting/arranging clothes and general tidying), outings and helping her to enjoy family time, particularly being a grandmother. You are her arms and legs.
Ideally, the candidate should have previous experience in a community care setting. They should also have an awareness of the need of someone with MND, together with the ability to provide care at and around the client’s home. A flexible approach to the role and willingness to adapt to the client’s changing needs is essential. Training will be provided for the use of any specialist equipment.
The candidate should be reliable, dependable, trustworthy, caring, compassionate, strong, hardworking, friendly and enthusiastic. Previous experience in a support/caring role is desirable but not essential.
Terms / Hours of work 20hrs per week (5-7pm every evening Mon-Sun, Sat 1-4pm and Sun 9-12noon or 1-4pm)
Rate of Pay £10.02 per hour (negotiable dependent on experience)
Moving and handling training/certification would be advantageous but full training will be provided. The successful candidate will be required to be part of the PVG Scheme and must provide a minimum of 2 references.
