Personal Development Mentor (AUTISM)

Location: Stevenston

Hours:     15hrs per week

Pay:          £13.50 p/h


A Personal Development Mentor is required for a bright young man with autism. The Mentor will work with him outside the home, helping him become more independent and confident.  He enjoys researching different academic subjects, history, language, politics, films, trampolining and eating out.



As his Mentor you will

  • Make a development plan for socialisation, inclusion, and increased independence. 

  • Use relevant strategies 

  • Treat him as a young adult and unique individual, recognising his right to dignity, individuality, friendship, and respect.


Skills and experience requirement

  • Autism mentoring experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role desirable

  • Driving license and access to car essential

You should demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • Open to new ideas 

  • Able to negotiate, listen and communicate well

  • Show an interest in his interests and hobbies

  • Willing to learn about his condition and how it affects him

  • Able to remain objective
