Support Worker - Irvine
We are looking for an experienced and confident Personal Assistant to support a young man who has Autism and a severe and complex learning disability.

Jamie is a cheeky likeable young man who likes his own way and often gets stuck in the same routine. Jamie is non-verbal which means he can display challenging behaviour when upset.”
You will be an experienced PA and enjoy making a difference to people’s lives. You must be caring and committed to providing the best support you can. A good knowledge of local and wider transport would be advantageous. You will require lots of patience and enthusiasm. The ideal candidate will be someone who can keep calm whilst working under pressure.
You should have experience of working with autism and challenging behaviour.
Health and Social Care knowledge and training are desirable. You must be adaptable to the needs of the individual and be able to work flexibly where required. Previous experience of working in a similar role is desirable.
Occasional respite cover of 24hr support will also be required. As well as flexibility to cover holidays or sickness.
Terms/hours of work
2 positions are available
1x 12 hours per week (2x 10:00-4:00). Temporary for 4 months (maternity cover).
1x Relief position
Rate of pay £10/hr.
Autism awareness and challenging behaviour training along with experience of working with individuals who have autism. Knowledge/training of sensory processing disorder would also be advantageous but not essential.
The successful candidate will be required to be part of the PVG Scheme and must provide a minimum of 2 references.
