Case Study: Joyce

My mum Joyce is now 89, she struggles with her mobility and is now housebound. In every other way, she is a very capable lady and values as much independence as we can give her.

I got to the stage where I just could not cope with everything on my own and needed carers who would work to my mum’s requirements and give her more social interaction.

After deciding to go down the long road of obtaining Self Directed Support we eventually received a budget through our social worker. I intended to take on the tasks of sourcing staff, Payroll, and Monitoring reports. Once I realised the amount of work involved, I came to the conclusion that I just did not have the time available!

We were introduced to PIP by our fabulous Broker as another option. I contacted Sandra and she promptly came to meet with us and discuss what support we needed. This was an informal, friendly chat and Sandra gave us a clear understanding of all the steps involved in setting everything up. PIP helped us write an advert and we soon recruited wonderful staff. PIP does all of the payroll, insurance, and Monitoring for us. All I need to do is fill in the time sheets and submit them. They are so helpful, explain all the complex processes and terms in an easy-to-understand way, nothing is ever too much trouble, and they always respond promptly!
