Our Payroll Service is designed for personal employers who hire their own care and support staff under Option 1. We make it easy to manage your payroll, stay compliant, and meet your legal responsibilities.

We provide a fully managed, professional payroll service, including wage calculations, payslips, and HMRC submissions—ensuring all statutory duties are handled accurately and on time.

To give you added peace of mind, we can also arrange employer’s liability insurance on your behalf, helping you stay protected as an employer.

Managed Account Service for Personal Employers
If you’d prefer not to manage bank accounts or handle wage payments yourself, our Fully Managed Account Service offers a simple, stress-free solution.

We open and manage a dedicated bank account in your name, taking care of all financial transactions on your behalf. This includes paying wages, HMRC liabilities, and pension contributions—ensuring everything is accurate, compliant, and on time.

We can also pay supplier invoices and provide both you and your local authority with clear monthly audit reports, giving you complete transparency and peace of mind.

Events

Partners in Personalisation are delighted to have received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to host a programme of events for those employing their own PA’s or exploring the option of doing so. We have named these events as “Building Confidence” as our aim is to provide the appropriate tools to become more confident in the role of personal employer.

About Us
Co-Founders Lorraine McLaughlin and Sandra Monaghan are based in North Ayrshire and are both parents of young adults with additional support needs. As carers ourselves, we understand the importance of flexibility, which is why we run our service from home—allowing us to maintain a healthy work/life balance while supporting others in similar situations.

We first met over 10 years ago while taking part in North Ayrshire’s Self-Directed Support Pathfinder. As part of a group of 10 families with children with disabilities, we worked closely with North Ayrshire Council to help test and shape their Self-Directed Support processes.

Our experience covered every stage of the journey—from initial needs assessments and support planning through to managing personal budgets. This first-hand experience underpins everything we do, giving us a genuine understanding of the challenges personal employers face and how best to support them.

We stay up to date with current legislation, including changes to employment law, HMRC requirements, and all aspects of the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013—ensuring the advice and support we provide is always accurate and compliant.

Sandra further strengthened her expertise by successfully completing the Community Brokerage Award in 2025, enhancing our ability to support personal employers with informed, person-centred guidance.
